NDTV Lumiere Ties Up With Delhi Restaurant For Fortnightly Shows

New Delhi, 27 September: NDTV Lumière, which has specialized in commercially releasing award-winning or applauded foreign films with English subtitles, have now teamed up with the Tabula Rasa restaurant in Saket in south Delhi to show films every alternate Wednesday night from October.

The initiative, called Tabula Rasa Lumière, will start with Fateh Akin's romantic road movie 'In July' on 1 October at 2100 hrs. 'Tabula Rasa Lumière' will provide movie lovers with an opportunity to watch contemporary cutting edge cinema from around the globe. It will also present critics and film enthusiasts from different backgrounds a platform to share their views, opinions and thoughts. The screenings will be free.

Announcing the initiative with Tabula Rasa, NDTV Imagine Senior Vice President - New Ventures Dhruvank Vaidya said "Our aim has been to promote world cinema across platforms in India and provide a unique and entertaining viewing experience. World Cinema Wednesdays is an initiative in this direction."

Mr. Sohrab Sitaram of Tabula Rasa added: "This is a perfect non-utilitarian opportunity to simulate imaginative experiences from around the world and cater to the ever growing population devoid of world cinema. We are proud to be a part of this niche art form".

It is also learnt that apart from theatrical release, NDTV Lumière will provide access to top quality cinema from across the world through multiple platforms such as home video, a 24 hours TV Channel, pay-per-view and internet.

Directed by the young, talented and versatile director Faith Akin and winner of the Audience Award at the 2001 Tromsø International Film Festival, ‘In July’ is a touching, story in which the mysterious and enigmatic July tells shy young college professor Daniel that he will meet the woman of his dreams if he buys a Mayan ring from her. Her prediction comes true, and Daniel is drawn into a tumultuous romantic quest that begins in Germany, traverses all of Europe and ends in the arms of his true love.

NDTV Lumière - an initiative to bring contemporary cutting edge world cinema to India – was launched by NDTV Imagine in collaboration with Manmohan Shetty, founder of Adlabs, and Sunil Doshi, who is a film activist, festival jurist and film producer. NDTV Imagine is spearheaded by Sameer Nair.
