About Ferruccio Marotti

Since 1964 Ferruccio Marotti has been professor of Theatre and Performance at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Rome; he has been Associate Professor at the University of Bologna from 1975 to 1981; he is Director of the Centro Teatro Ateneo, Research Centre on Performance at the University “Sapienza” in Rome.

His scientific interests are:

      XX Century theatre theories (books on Edward Gordon Craig, Adolphe Appia, Hamleth or the Oxymoron)

      Technical and dramaturgical studies on Renaissance Italian theatre and Commedia dell’Arte (books on Leone De Sommi, Flaminio Scala, Theatre theories and techniques in the Renaissance);

      Theatre anthropology issues on Eastern performing arts (films on Indian Bharata Natyam, Chakkyar Kuttu, Kathakali, Nagamandalam, Balinese rituals, Somali rituals);

      Scientific researches through digital media in performing arts (Jerzy Grotowski’s Constant Prince – a Reconstruction, video on Dario Fo, Gian Maria Volonté).
