                “America Days” at your doorstep!

 

To promote people-to-people dialogue and friendship, American Officers will visit key cities across India in the week of September 8-12, to discuss the U.S. Elections, American higher education, and other topics of mutual interest.  We welcome this opportunity to meet with those outside New Delhi who are interested in knowing more about the United States.

 

5                      Friday Flick: “On the Waterfront”

Terry Malloy dreams about being a prize fighter, while tending his pigeons and running errands at the docks for Johnny Friendly, the corrupt boss of the dockers union. Terry witnesses a murder by two of Johnny's thugs, and later meets the dead man's sister and feels responsible for his death. She introduces him to Father Barry, who tries to force him to provide information for the courts that will smash the dock racketeers.

You Can't Take it with You: Alice Sycamore, the only normal person from a zany family falls in love with her boss, Tony Kirby, but the relation breaks up, when during a dinner at her home, the house is raided by the police and everyone is arrested on suspicion of anarchism.

An unemployed single mother becomes a legal assistant and almost single-handedly brings down a California power company accused of polluting a city's water supply.

·         All programs take place at the American Center, 24, Kasturba Gandhi Marg.  Seating for  events is limited and available on a first come, first served basis.  Please carry a photo identity card to enter the American Center.

 

·        Media planning to cover events at the American Center are requested to notify the   Embassy’s Press Office in advance (Tel. 2419 8814). 

 

·      Mobile phones and laptops are allowed within the American Center.  However, for security reasons, photography through mobile phones is prohibited.
